We’re just back from Florida where we attended a three-day conference with Fidelity Investments. One word sums up what we experienced and heard: wow.
These are amazing times. The world is changing in fascinating (unsettling), tremendous (disruptive), and wonderful (pivotal) ways.
This was punched home simply by the magnificence of the conference hall: plush leather seats with coffee tables, high-tech presentation wizardry, snacks and drinks galore, meals overlooking the ocean. The new world has arrived!
In comfort and style we heard from about twenty experts on a multitude of subjects. Strikingly, one after another spoke about our changing world with a positive narrative. The money managers enthusiastically told us about the investment opportunities they are finding worldwide.
Our money managers are drawing on a global combination of research analysts and research technology. It’s all about teams and technology now. …and Managed Portfolios.
We are convinced Managed Portfolios are the way forward. Expect to hear more from us about this.
As the world becomes more complex, and presents us with ever more promising and complicated investment opportunities, it’s reassuring that the really great companies, like Fidelity, are developing ways for us to find our investment sweet spot: a satisfying rate of return optimally balanced with capital safety.
